FAQS

What is the OverDrive Series?

The OverDrive Series includes the MiniDrive, TinyDrive, and OverDrive classes—12-week recreational hip hop dance programs culminating in a small end-of-session showcase. How does the monthly tuition pricing work?

Our monthly tuition is designed to provide flexible and affordable options for families enrolling in multiple classes each week. Tuition is calculated based on the total number of classes your family attends per week, regardless of how many dancers are in your family.

Tuition Rates:

  1. $80 — For families attending 1 class per week
  2. $150 — For families attending 2 classes per week
  3. $210 — For families attending 3 classes per week
  4. $260 — For families attending 4 classes per week
  5. $50 — For each additional class per week beyond 4 classes

How It Works:

  1. These rates cover all dancers in a single family combined. For example, if two siblings attend one class each week, your family is enrolled in 2 classes per week, so you would pay the rate for 2 classes.
  2. You can mix and match classes across any programs or levels, as long as the total number of weekly classes fits your chosen tuition tier.
  3. Additional classes beyond the 4-class tier are charged at a flat rate of $50 per class per week.

Example Scenario:

Imagine your family has three dancers:

  1. Dancer 1 takes 2 classes per week
  2. Dancer 2 takes 1 class per week
  3. Dancer 3 takes 2 classes per week

This adds up to 5 classes per week total. Your monthly tuition would be calculated as:

  1. $260 for 4 classes (base rate)
  2. Plus $50 for the 5th class (additional class rate)
  3. Total monthly tuition: $310

This tiered pricing ensures you receive the best value possible when enrolling multiple family members or signing up for multiple classes.

Are Drop-In Classes included in the monthly tuition pricing?

No, Drop-In Classes are not included in the monthly tuition pricing for our programs. They have their own separate pricing structure.

Drop-In Class Pricing:

  1. FridayNRG Classes: $20 per class
  2. FridayNRG Classes (Company Dancers): $10 per class
  3. Pop-Up Classes (with guest choreographers): $25 per class
  4. Pop-Up Classes (Company Dancers): $20 per class

Drop-In Class Packages:

For those interested in a more economical option, we offer class packages for Drop-In classes (note: Pop-Up classes are not eligible for package discounts):

  1. 3-Class Package: $50
  2. 3-Class Package (Company Dancers): $25
  3. 6-Class Package: $100
  4. 6-Class Package (Company Dancers): $50

These packages provide flexibility and savings for dancers who want to attend multiple Drop-In classes without the commitment of a full program or monthly tuition.

When does registration close for the OverDrive and Technique/Development Series?

Each program has its own registration timeline and policies to ensure the best experience for all dancers:

OverDrive Series (MiniDrive, TinyDrive, OverDrive)

  1. Registration will close once all spots are filled or by the first week of the program, whichever comes first.
  2. Late registration is not permitted after the first week to maintain class structure and consistency.

Technique/Development Series

  1. Registration for this 10-month program will remain open through October.
  2. After October, registration will be closed for the remainder of the season to support focused training and dancer development.

What should dancers wear to class?

We keep our dress code relaxed and dancer-friendly! The most important thing is that dancers feel comfortable and can move freely and safely.

Recommended Attire:

  1. Athletic wear like t-shirts, tanks, leggings, joggers, or shorts
  2. Athletic sneakers (must be clean and supportive for dance use)
  3. Hats and accessories are totally fine, as long as they stay secure and don’t interfere with movement
  4. Hair pulled back and out of the face is encouraged

Not Allowed:

  1. Jeans (too restrictive for movement)
  2. Open-toe shoes, boots, sandals, or bare feet (for safety reasons)

We want dancers to express themselves and feel confident in class while staying safe and performance-ready!

Can I watch my dancer's class?

Our studio currently features an open-concept layout, meaning the lobby and studio share the same space without a full physical barrier. While this allows for some visibility, we are planning to add a divider (such as a wall or curtains) in the future to create a more focused environment for dancers.

Once that update is complete, we will offer a lobby surveillance monitor so parents can still view class activity in real time from a comfortable waiting area.

That said, we strongly encourage parents to wait outside or drop off their dancers whenever possible. We’ve found that many students feel more confident and focused when parents aren’t in direct view, as having family members present can sometimes cause distraction or add pressure.

We love having your support and want to make sure every dancer feels relaxed, empowered, and free to grow at their own pace in class!

Do you offer make-up classes if a dancer misses a class?

If a student misses a class, they have the option to schedule a private make-up session with their instructor to catch up on the material. This is the best way to stay on track without falling behind.

Please note that if a make-up session is not scheduled, it is the student’s responsibility to review and practice the missed choreography or technique independently. Our classes progress at a set pace, and instructors are unable to slow down or repeat material for individual absences during regular class time.

Additionally, for any missed classes due to a student’s unavailability, we do not offer refunds or prorate tuition.

What is your refund and cancellation policy?

We understand that circumstances can change, so here’s an overview of our refund and cancellation policies:

  1. Registration fees and tuition payments are non-refundable once a program or class session has begun.
  2. Drop-in classes are non-refundable and cannot be credited or transferred.
  3. For missed classes due to student unavailability, we do not offer refunds or prorated tuition.
  4. We do not prorate tuition, except in the rare case that a class is cancelled by us and a make-up class cannot be provided.
  5. If you wish to cancel enrollment before the start of the program, please notify us as soon as possible. Any payments made up to that point will be handled on a case-by-case basis.
  6. We encourage families to carefully review schedules and commitments before registering to avoid any inconvenience.

If you have special circumstances or concerns, please contact us directly to discuss possible solutions.

How do I register for classes?

Registering for classes is easy! Simply visit the Classes page on our website and scroll to find the class you want to join.

Clicking on the class will take you to a registration form specific to that class, where you’ll provide important details such as:

  1. Dancer’s name
  2. Parent or guardian contact information
  3. Emergency contact information
  4. Payment details

If you wish, you can also opt in for automatic payment by entering your credit card information securely during registration.

What performance opportunities are available?

We offer several exciting performance opportunities throughout the year to showcase our dancers’ progress and talents:

  1. OverDrive Series:
  2. All OverDrive classes, except for BabyDrive, will have small recreational showcases at the end of each 12-week session.
  3. Additionally, dancers enrolled in the spring season of the OverDrive Series will have the chance to perform in our annual Studio Showcase.
  4. Technique/Development Series & NRG:
  5. These groups perform in the Studio Showcase as well, which is held in May/June and features performances from all studio classes.
  6. Community Showcase:
  7. Held around April, this event is organized by NRG, which will feature other local dance teams.
  8. Participation is exclusive to NRG teams.

These opportunities provide valuable experience and a chance for dancers to celebrate their hard work in a supportive environment!

What's the difference between recreational and competitive programs?

Our studio offers both recreational and competitive programs to suit different dancer goals and commitment levels:

Recreational Programs:

  1. This includes the OverDrive Series and the Technique/Development Series.
  2. These programs vary in schedule, length, pricing, and commitment level.
  3. They are designed to be accessible and welcoming to all ages and skill levels, whether dancers are just starting or looking to build their technique.
  4. Recreational programs focus on learning, having fun, and building confidence in a supportive environment.

Competitive Program (NRG):

  1. Dancers must audition to join NRG, which is a year-long commitment with higher standards and expectations.
  2. This program involves multiple competitions, local performances, and travel opportunities.
  3. NRG rehearses twice a week for 90 minutes each session and requires serious dedication — it’s definitely not for the faint of heart! (But don’t worry, we keep it fun too!)
  4. The monthly tuition for NRG is higher to reflect the increased training and performance opportunities.
  5. NRG is the highlight of our studio, offering advanced training and a chance to grow as a competitive dancer.

Whether you’re looking for a fun, flexible way to enjoy dance or are ready to take the next step into competitive dance, we have a program to fit your goals!

How does someone join NRG?

NRG is our competitive dance program, and joining requires an audition. Auditions are held once a year during our annual Summer Intensive — this is the primary way to become part of the team.

Currently, auditions are only available at this time. We are considering the possibility of offering mid-season auditions, but no final decision has been made yet. We will provide updates as soon as more information is available.

To prepare for auditions, attending our drop-in classes is a great way to build skills and get comfortable with new choreography.

We also highly encourage those interested in joining NRG to register for the Technique/Development Series. This program offers similar training at a slightly slower pace and serves as a strong pipeline to NRG, helping dancers develop the foundational skills needed to succeed in the competitive program.

If you’re interested in auditioning, we recommend attending the Summer Intensive and preparing your best dance skills to showcase!

Are there age requirements for classes or programs?

Yes, each of our classes is designed with specific age groups and skill levels in mind to ensure the best learning experience for every dancer.

You can visit our Classes page to view each class's recommended age range and experience level.

That said, we understand that every dancer progresses at their own pace. If we feel your dancer’s skill level exceeds the recommended age group, they may be invited to move up into a more advanced class that better matches their ability. Our goal is to place dancers where they’ll be challenged, supported, and inspired to grow!

If you have questions about placement, we’re happy to help you find the best fit.

Do you offer private lessons?

Yes, we do offer private lessons!

To schedule a session, you can reach out to Mr. Brandon or Mr. Alton directly. When booking, please be sure to clarify your goals and let us know what you’d like to focus on — whether it’s grooving, footwork, musicality, or specific styles like locking, tutting, or popping.

Private lessons are a great way to receive focused, one-on-one training tailored to your individual needs.

Please note: Private lessons are offered at a separate rate and are not included in regular tuition or drop-in packages.
